Tips & Tricks

We are giving here some hints that can be helpful for users to create more realistic compositions:

  • Modulate repetitive cycles. You can liven up a repetitive succession of components (created through Create Linked Copies) by detaching (Detach Linked Copy) certain ones, and then changing their modulation (emphasis, pitch, etc...) in a different way. This will give a more human effect to the sequence.

  • Add a silence gap between two parts of a Wind instrument. Wind instruments notes play until you explicitly stop them. To add a silence gap between two components, open the last one (before the gap) and fade it out with a volume envelope. Please note that if this component is a Linked Copy, you will have to detach it beforehand, otherwise each copy will fade out in the same way.

  • Create a complex meend (pitch bend). You can create the most intricate meends by combining pitch bend over several cells. You can for instance split a long cell into many parts, and then specify for each part a different meend. Make sure you uncheck the option for playing the next stroke in each subsequent cell, so that you have a single, continuous sound.

  • Add stereo effect to your song. You can now create a 3D effect in your composition by setting a different pan on each track. For example, you can move the rhythmic section more on one side and the melodic instruments more on the other. You can also rearrange them in a different way.
