Create Wave FilesIf you are composing music on your computer, SwarShala will definitely add Indian spices to it, by providing fully customizable wave files of any melodic or rhythmic pattern in the provided bases. You don't need to know sarod or tabla for that; we are committed to post new patterns on a monthly basis, and hopefully other Indian music lovers will follow too. To create your wave files, you should go into Deferred mode, where the patterns are played exactly the way your file will sound (they are actually the same stuff, but it's kept as a buffer in RAM). You can thus try the different patterns provided, select the one you need, adjust it to the proper tempo, pitch, volume and pan, and go through the different strokes if you want to change their specific settings (plucking style, pitch, volume modulation and so on). Once you are satisfied with the way it sounds when played, you can click on the Composer | Create Wave File and the following dialog will appear.
In this dialog you will have to specify the name of the file you want to create, as well as the Trailing Sound option. This option describes the way you want to handle the sound which remains after the pattern has completed its time. Typically, a tanpura drone continues far longer than the 4 or 5 beats it is played. The possibilities, therefore, are:
With these 3 options, you can create the whole life of a pattern: start with a Truncated one, loop as many times as needed with a Wrapped one, and finish with Only the trailing sound. You can set the default path to be used in the Tools | Options dialog, at the Path Tab:
