iShala (iOS, Android)
iShala is an Indian music software that combines
a tabla machine, a lehra player and an
electronic tanpura. It
provides rhythmic and melodic accompaniment for music practice or
just to jam along virtual musicians.
Featured instruments
are Tabla, Harmonium, Swarmandal and Tanpura. You can select to play one or all
of them, and they will automatically synchronize together.
Includes 32 rhythmic cycles and 72 melodic tunes in
10 different ragas (All, Asavari, Chandrakauns,
Durga, Gunkari, Jaijaivanti, Lalit, Sohini, Todi and Yaman) and
7 different tempos: possible combinations are thus
nothing short of infinite!..
You can download
iShala directly on your handheld by going into the App Store/Android
Market and
searching for "ishala". You should then see the icon below:

iShala is priced the equivalent of 17 CHF and about 16 MB to download. Updates will be free.

Raga & Tala / Ragam & Talam (iOS, Android)
We have now ported both our Indian classical
music multimedia tutorials (Swar Tutorial)
onto the mobile devices.
These new apps have been named as "Raga &
Tala" for the North Indian classical music (Hindusthani) and "Ragam
& Talam" for the South Indian tradition (Carnatic). They will give
you a guided tour round the beauties and intricacies of these
marvellous art forms, in both their melodical and rhythmic aspects.
Both apps can be downloaded directly from
the App Store and Android Market (now Play Store) for around $13
each.
These are aimed primarily at tablets, but you
can also use them on mobiles with good resolution, if small fonts
don't frighten you;-).
